Arquitects by training, the duo started in Paris in 1997 approaching its work with an interest in art, architecture and design. They refer to history and memory and follow the routes of historical travelers to reinterpret their investigation from our actual time and the contemporary point of view. With photography as a mediating tool and using poetic language, they reflect the loss of heritage and cultural wealth caused by the consequences of inefficient and unilateral political systems, globalization or natural disasters.

This January 2008 Atelier Morales has been invited to the Schrin Kunsthalle Frankfurt  to participate in the exhibition “All-inclusive – A Tourist World” curated by Matthias Ulrich; the duo will be showing 10 pieces belonging to the series  Viaje equinoccial, Homenaje a A.Von Humboldt y A. Bompland, which has also been recently exhibited in a solo show at the Heidelberger Kunstverein (2007). This series has had an important curatorial acclaim and fits into the Schirn’s show which has to do with the traces left by historical travellers and tourism today in a globalized world.

Atelier Morales has also been selected to participate at the Third Beijing International Art Biennale, China 2008 (July – August) with works from Viaje equinoccial.

Another series “Los Balnearios” is their latest body of work, in which they experiment with three-dimensional images, new media in the art world that captures memory: the thin line between dreams and reality. This body of work also refers to areas visited by 19 Century European voyageurs in America vis à vis contemporary mass tourism and its effect on the culture, economy and environment on those sites.

Collective exhibitions of Atelier Morales include La Huella Múltiple, colateral to the IX Bienal de La Habana, 2005; Beyond Delirious, CIFO, Miami, Futuribles, curated by Rosa Martínez, ARCO, Madrid, Spain 2004; Space and Subjectivity, curated by Lauri Firstenberg, Prague Biennale 1, 2003.
